Volta ao Mundo em Livros e Filmes

Já há alguns anos eu tento ler um livro e ver um filme para cada país do mundo, mas ainda não tinha conseguido me organizar para escrever e postar reviews.

O que é?

Há uns anos eu vi o Ted Talk da Ann Morgan, uma inglesa que nas vésperas das Olimpíadas de Londres percebeu que ela se considerava uma boa leitura, mas que na sua estante ela tinha livros de apenas uma dúzia de países, e resolveu passar 2012 lendo um livro de cada país do mundo. E ela conseguiu.

A minha maior dificuldade com esse projeto sempre foi fazer uma lista.

O que constitui uma nação? A ONU atualmente reconhece 193 países.

Quem vai representar o Reino Unido? Inglaterra, Escócia, Gales, ou Irlanda do Norte? E quanto à Espanha, vou ler um livro basco, catalão, andaluz? E lugares como Porto Rico e Hong Kong, tecnicamente partes de países dos quais se distinguem muito culturalmente? E tem tantos países sobre os quais não sei quase nada, mas tenho certeza que são tão diversos quanto esses.

E países que não são reconhecidos pela ONU, como Abkhazia, Taiwan, Palestina, Saara Ocidental, Ossétia do Sul, Nagorno-Karabakh, Transnistria?

E quanto a nações que não tem países? Vou pular um livro curdo?

A Ann Morgan fez 193 países, a Camilla Navarro, do Viaggiando, tá fazendo 198 (o blog dela foi, até onde eu sei, o primeiro a começar esse projeto no Brasil e posta reviews constantemente). Eu me decidi por um desafio um pouco diferente. É um projeto interminável, porque pretendo sempre adicionar mais e mais lugares, repetir um país quando não gostei muito da obra que escolhi, ler mais livros de autor que amei, etc. Para selecionar livros, vou usar recomendações nas listas de pessoas que já fizeram e fazem parte, como a Ann Morgan e a Camila do Viaggiando, pesquisas na internet e recomendações pessoais.

Para selecionar os filmes é mais difícil, já que não achei listas de filmes de cada país do mundo, então minhas maiores fontes são premiações internacionais.

Os países serão selecionados em parte de sorteio, feito por um app no celular que permite que itens sejam adicionados a qualquer momento. Mas eu sempre furo a lista quando planejo viajar para algum país, e às vezes porque acho um livro ou filme interessante de algum país do qual nunca li/assisti nada. 

Para conseguir os livros, compro em livrarias ou online, nos sites da Book Depository (que não cobra frete para mandar livros para a maioria do mundo), Better World Books (idem, também trabalha com usados e doa um livro para cada um que você compra), e outros. Também compro ebooks para ler no meu Kobo. Vou postando aqui reviews e tentando manter uma lista organizada.

    Desde o ano de 2019 resolvi começar um projeto semelhante ao seu, porém somente com filmes. Já estou no meu país de número 90. Recentemente descobri seu site e ele tem me sido muito útil em suas sugestões e análises – diga-se de passagem muito boas. parabéns!
    De fato é muito enriquecedor ampliar nossa visão globalmente e perceber o quanto a espécie humana é paradoxalmente tão diferente e tão parecida.

        Na verdade vejo de várias fontes: Netflix, Prime e principalmente do Youtube – onde achl muita variedade de filmes legendados em Inglês e Espanhol. Fiz uma playlist e a medida que vou assistindo vou retirando… Muitos do que você listou também assisti – até porque uso criterios semelhantes aos seus para procurar títulos.
